About Us

My Team is comprised of me and my loving wife and three fantastic children. Along with the incredible animals that I have the great honor of working with!

My name is Joseph Finley and my journey starts out just like so many of the people I have met in the reptile community. My father kept iguanas when I was young and I spent much of my youth traipsing around the neighborhood chasing the local population of lizards and snakes whilst honing my herping skills. This led to my life-long fascination with all reptilian species and snakes in particular. My mother, however, was less than thrilled by the idea of keeping a snake in the house…

For years the resounding answer to my incessant pleading for a snake was “not until you are 18 and out of my house!” I was allowed to keep turtles, fish, rodents, dogs, and cats, but no snakes. We even did quite a bit of rehabbing for raccoons, squirrels, and opossums that would lose their way or get injured. After hounding my mother for enough years she finally conceded and allowed me to get a ball python, and my fascination has only grown from there.

Since that first python, I have cared for and kept many species and used each as a learning opportunity to expand my knowledge and ability to understand these amazing animals and develop skills in handling, disease diagnosis, and cage design and production. I pride myself on being able to provide my animals with enclosures that efficiently provide proper climate controls for each of the biomes they come from.

My goal for Valhalla Exotics is that this becomes a business that strives for excellence and alters the community of captive reptiles for the better! I want to provide quality animals and premium products that are specifically designed with our animals in mind. I want to show the world that not only do these beautiful and amazing animals deserve a place in captive husbandry but that we can provide them with the quality enclosures and environment that they truly need in our homes.

I am honored to have all the support of my family, friends, and fellow enthusiasts who make this possible. if you find these animals fascinating and want to join us in our journey, please check out our social media page and like and follow us on our various media sites so you can support us and learn more as we continue to strive for perfection in the art of captive reptile husbandry.
